15-നും 24-നും ഇടയിൽ പ്രായമുള്ളവരിൽ എംഎസ്എം അഥവാ സ്വവർഗരതിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടുള്ള എച്ച്ഐ വി ബാധിതരുടെ എണ്ണം ആശങ്കാജനകമായ രീതിയിൽ വർധിച്ചുവരുന്നതായാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ട്.
2025-2026 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷത്തിൽ പുതിയ എച്ച് ഐവി കേസുകളിൽ 29 ശതമാനം ആയിരുന്നു എംഎസ്എം എങ്കിൽ 2026 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷത്തിലെ ആദ്യ മൂന്ന് മാസങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രം ഇത് 31 ശതമാനമായി ആയി വർധിച്ചു.
സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോമുകളും ഡേറ്റിംഗ് ആപ്പുകളും വഴിയുള്ള സുരക്ഷിതമല്ലാത്ത ലൈംഗിക ബന്ധങ്ങളാണ് യുവാക്കളിൽ എയ്ഡ്സ് വർധിക്കുന്നതിന് കാരണം.
A report from Kasaragod has raised concerns about HIV infections among young people in Kerala.
According to the information provided, the share of MSM (men who have sex with men) among newly reported HIV cases was around 29% in the 2025–26 financial year, increasing to 31% during the first three months of the following financial year.
The report also points to unprotected sex and limited awareness about sexual health and HIV prevention as important factors behind the increase. Dating apps and social media may facilitate connections, but the key risk factor is unsafe sexual practices—not the use of any particular platform or sexual orientation.
Greater awareness, regular HIV testing, access to condoms and PrEP where appropriate, and accurate sexual-health education can help reduce transmission.
